About this award

You get $5,000, renewable for 3 consecutive years for one degree. This is a scholarship, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. This is for you if you are a top-performing Manitoba high school student aiming for the highest academic average in the province. You must submit your undergraduate application for admissions by the deadline of March 1. No specific notification date is posted publicly — check the University of Manitoba's program page or call their office to confirm when you will hear back about your result. Automatic consideration is used for this award, meaning you do not need a separate application. It goes to one student: the Manitoba high school graduate with the highest average, with a minimum 95% average and the highest combined score on one English 40S course, Pre-Calculus Math 40S and at least one science or language course. The money is disbursed into your tuition fee account at the end of August. If the award covers more than your fall tuition, the extra money goes toward your winter term tuition to reduce what you owe in early January. Access "View My Student Aid" through the Financial Aid and Awards card in Aurora (the University of Manitoba's student portal) to accept your award. To renew this scholarship, you must register for and remain in a full-time program and achieve a sessional grade point average (GPA — a measure of your average grades for the session) of at least 3.75 each year.

You must be a Manitoba high school student graduating with the highest average. You need a minimum average of 95% from your best 5 courses from the University of Manitoba's approved list. You also need the highest aggregate score on one English 40S course, Pre-Calculus Math 40S, and at least one science or language course. To be eligible, you must enroll in both the upcoming fall and winter terms with a minimum of 24 credit hours. You may hold it with the Leader of Tomorrow Scholarship in name only, and with the Chown Centennial Scholarship, but not with any other University of Manitoba Entrance Scholarship.
