About this award

Depending on your academic achievement, you can receive a renewable award of $15,000, $20,000, or $25,000 per year for 4 years. This is a scholarship, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. This is for you if you are an international student entering the Bachelor of Commerce degree at Queen's and have a strong record of academic success. You are considered automatically when you apply for admission, so there is no separate deadline to meet. Since you do not apply manually, ask Queen's University how and when you will be notified of a decision. Winners are chosen based on academic achievement. Selection criteria aren't published — ask Queen's University how they calculate the awards average and roughly how many students receive these awards each year. Ask Queen's University during your application how the money will reach you — some awards pay students directly, others apply funds to tuition. Confirm this so you can plan your cash flow. To keep this award for 3 subsequent years, you must continue to be registered full-time in a program of study within your original faculty of admission.

Who qualifies

You must be an international student paying international student fees; you are not eligible if you pay domestic fees. You must be entering the first year of post-secondary education for the first time. However, if you are a graduate from a 2-year CEGEP (Collège d'enseignement général et professionnel — a pre-university college in Quebec) program transferring into your second year at Queen's University, you remain eligible. Canadian citizens, including dual-citizens and permanent residents, do not qualify. To be considered, you must enter the first year of the Bachelor of Commerce degree program in the Smith School of Business.
