About this award

You can receive one of two $1,000 one-time bursaries. As a bursary, this money is yours to keep — there is nothing to repay. This is for you if you are a female graduate from New Brunswick or Prince Edward Island who has a strong record of leadership and volunteering. You must apply by May 1st. When you apply, ask Fredericton Community Foundation how and when you'll hear back — whether it is by email, phone, or a portal. Selection criteria aren't published — ask Fredericton Community Foundation how winners are chosen and roughly how many applicants they typically receive so you can judge your odds. Ask Fredericton Community Foundation during your application how the money will reach you — some awards pay students directly, others apply funds to tuition. Confirm this so you can plan your cash flow. Renewal conditions aren't listed — if you're counting on this for multiple years, confirm with Fredericton Community Foundation whether it's one-time or renewable and what you need to maintain.

How to apply

  2. Submit your application

Save a copy, and submit at least a day before the deadline shown above.

Tips for applying

  • VolunteerismAvoid just listing the organizations where you volunteered. Instead, describe the specific impact you had while leading a project or helping others. Give a concrete example of a time you took charge.
  • StrategyAvoid ignoring the special consideration for ringette players if you play the sport. Instead, explicitly mention your experience with ringette in your application. Detail how the sport helped build your leadership abilities.
  • RealismAvoid assuming this is a guaranteed award since there are only two available. Instead, apply for several other bursaries at the same time. This ensures you have multiple paths to funding your first year.
