$6,000 for Canadian high school students entering the University of Manitoba with an 80% average and financial need.

You can receive one of three annual bursaries valued at $6,000 each. This is a bursary, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. This is for you if you are a high-achieving Canadian student who also faces financial barriers to attending university. You must apply by July 31. When you apply, ask the University of Manitoba how and when you'll hear back — whether it is by email, the Aurora portal, or phone. Selection criteria aren't published — ask University of Manitoba how winners are chosen and roughly how many applicants they typically receive so you can judge your odds. The money is disbursed into your tuition fee account at the end of August. If the award covers more than your Fall Term tuition, the excess is applied to your Winter term tuition to reduce what you owe in early January. To keep this award in your second, third, and fourth years of your first degree program, you must maintain a full-time course load, achieve a minimum sessional grade-point average (GPA — a measure of your average grades) of 3.5 each year, and continue to show financial need. You must submit a government student loan assessment and the University of Manitoba Bursary application for each academic session.
You qualify if you are a Canadian citizen or permanent resident and a Canadian high school student. You must have graduated from a Canadian high school or CEGEP (Collège d'enseignement général et professionnel — a public college system in Quebec) no longer than 18 months before the start of the 2026/2027 academic session. You need a minimum average of 80% on the high school courses used for your admission. You must also register for full-time study (minimum 18 credit hours) in University 1 or any faculty or school at the University of Manitoba that admits students directly from high school. Finally, you must demonstrate financial need based on a Government Student Loan assessment from your home province.
