About this award

Depending on your program, you receive either $8,000 per year for 4 years ($32,000 total) in the Faculty of Arts and Science, or $15,000 per year for 4 years ($60,000 total) in Smith Engineering. As a bursary, this money is yours to keep — there is nothing to repay. This is for you if you are entering your first year at Queen's University and can show you have a financial need and a history of being involved in extra-curricular activities. You must apply by February 15. When you apply, ask Queen's University how and when you'll hear back — whether it is by email, phone, or through the student portal. Winners are chosen on financial need and involvement in extra-curricular activities, and the number of bursaries varies each year. Ask Queen's University during your application how the money will reach you — some awards pay students directly, others apply funds to tuition. Confirm this so you can plan your cash flow. To keep this award for the three subsequent years after your first, you must maintain a minimum GPA (Grade Point Average — the average of your final grades) of 2.0 each year. You must also continue to show financial need and involvement in extra-curricular activities.

Who qualifies

You must be entering the first year of any first-entry undergraduate degree program in the Faculty of Arts and Science or Smith Engineering. To qualify, you must demonstrate financial need and show that you are involved in extra-curricular activities.
