About this award

You receive $750 in your first year, which is split evenly between the fall and winter semesters. This is a scholarship, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. Depending on your annual CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average — the average of all your final grades), you can receive a potential annual renewable amount of $750, leading to a potential total scholarship value of $3,000. This is for you if you are a high-achieving student at a Canadian secondary school who is transitioning to university for the first time. You must submit your complete application for admission to your program by September 1, 2027. When you apply, ask Toronto Metropolitan University how and when you will be notified of your award — whether it comes via email or the applicant portal. Every student who meets the average and the terms receives this award. It is based on your final admission average (your best 6 Grade 12 U/M courses or equivalent), with no competition or committee review. Ask Toronto Metropolitan University during your application how the money will reach you — some awards pay students directly, others apply funds to tuition. Confirm this so you can plan your cash flow. To renew it, you need a CGPA of at least 3.85 and a course load of at least 80% (4 or more billing units) in both fall and winter; the renewal amount depends on your CGPA.

Who qualifies

You qualify if you are admitted for 2027-2028 and have a final admission average of 86-89.99%. You must be currently enrolled full-time in a Canadian secondary school and have completed a minimum of 3 Ontario grade 12 U/M (University or Mixed) courses, or the Canadian provincial equivalent, within the 2026-2027 regular school year. You must also have been continuously enrolled full-time with no gaps in attendance prior to the 2026-2027 regular school year. This award is for those enrolling in a post secondary institution for the first time. It is open to Canadian citizens, permanent residents of Canada, protected persons in Canada (those with refugee or protected-person status), and international students.
