Université de Moncton Arthur L. Irving Family Foundation Scholarship

What you will need

About this award

You can receive one of 3 scholarships valued at $10,000 each. This is a scholarship, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. The funding is renewable for the normal duration of your program of studies. This is for you if you are a student leader from the Atlantic provinces who has balanced strong academics with significant community involvement. The application form opens online every year in early October. The deadline is January 15 at 4:30 p.m. each year (the next business day if January 15 falls on a weekend), so the next one is January 15, 2027. If you are a top candidate, you will be invited for a virtual interview in late January or early February, and you will hear the final results no earlier than mid-February. Selection is based on your leadership qualities and community involvement. You receive the money in two equal instalments during the academic year. The money is first applied to the fees you owe Université de Moncton. Ask Université de Moncton during your application if any remaining balance is paid to you via direct deposit. To keep this scholarship, you must remain registered full time with at least 12 credits per term. You must also achieve a grade point average (GPA) of 3.50 or higher and continue to show leadership and community involvement throughout your academic career.

Who qualifies

You must be from the Atlantic provinces and have graduated from high school in June before starting your first year of enrolment at Université de Moncton. You must be registered for full-time studies at one of Université de Moncton’s three campuses. To qualify, you must have maintained an 80% or higher average in Grades 10 and 11. Note that you cannot combine this award with the Roméo LeBlanc Excellence Scholarship, the Academic Merit Entrance Scholarship, the Student Leadership Entrance Scholarship, or an Academic Merit Scholarship. Students attending a campus as part of a student mobility program are not eligible.

• Community InvolvementAvoid simply listing the organizations where you volunteered. Instead, describe the specific impact your leadership had on the community. Provide a concrete example of a project you led from start to finish.
• ReferencesAvoid having your referees email their letters. Instead, ensure your signatories send their letters of reference by mail, as this is a strict requirement for this award.
