About this award

UVic's entrance scholarships based on admission average are worth $1,500 to $5,000 (one-time) for Canadian citizens and permanent residents admitted with an average of 90% or higher (32 IB points) or equivalent. These are the 2027-2028 figures, and values can change each year. As a scholarship, this money is yours to keep and you do not have to pay it back. This is for you if you are an academically outstanding undergraduate student who has excelled in your studies at a Canadian high school. There is no application, but UVic must have your marks. If you are in Grade 12 in BC, order your transcripts through StudentTranscripts Service (STS) when you apply through EducationPlannerBC, and choose the default option that allows updates for one year. If you are in Grade 12 elsewhere in Canada, self-report your Grade 12 marks between February 15 and March 15. If you do neither, you will not be considered later. Early offers are based on self-reported marks, and UVic reviews final marks in August before finalizing offers. You accept an offer in your UVic Online tools account (Student Services, then Awards and financial aid, then View My Student Aid). The scholarship is based on your admission average. UVic uses your actual marks and does not round up percentages. The money is applied to your tuition and fees for the winter session (September to April). If it is more than you owe, the balance is paid to you as long as you stay registered in at least 12.0 units; contact the Tuition Office to request the refund. The scholarship is one-time. To receive it you must register and stay enrolled full-time: at least 12.0 units in the winter session (September to April), or 6.0 units if you start in the summer session (May to August).

Who qualifies

You must be an academically outstanding undergraduate student entering the University of Victoria directly from a Canadian secondary school. To qualify, you must be a Canadian citizen, a Canadian Permanent Resident, or be entering from a Canadian secondary school. You must also be entering the first year of an undergraduate degree program, be a current secondary school student or have graduated within the last two years without attending a post-secondary institution, and be admitted with an admission average of at least 90% (or 32 IB points).
