About this award

You receive a $1,000 scholarship. This is a scholarship, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. This is for you if you are a high-achieving domestic student entering university for the first time. There is no separate application or deadline: the scholarship is awarded on the same day you receive your offer of admission, and the amount is stated in your offer letter. Winners are chosen automatically based on your high school GPA (Grade Point Average — the average of your final grades). There is no separate application process. The scholarship is credited to your tuition account by the mid-October service charge date. To keep it, register full-time (at least 1.5 credits by the end of each term in the fall and winter sessions if you start in September). If you withdraw or substantially reduce your course load without prior approval, you may have to repay all or part of it.

Who qualifies

You must be a domestic student, which means you are a Canadian student, a permanent resident, or a protected person (someone with refugee or protected-person status in Canada). You must have an admission average between 90.0% and 91.9%. Please note that these entrance scholarships are generally not combined with other U of T (University of Toronto) scholarships, such as the President's Scholars of Excellence Program or the U of T Scholars Award.
