About this award

You get $3,000. This is a scholarship, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. This is for you if you are a high-achieving student moving from high school into your first year of university. These scholarships are awarded at the time of admission. There is no separate application or deadline, and the amount is stated in your offer letter. Winners are chosen automatically based on your high school grades (GPA — your grade point average). Eligibility is decided by your admission average, consistency of performance, and any other criteria used to decide your admission (for example, standardized tests). The scholarship is credited to your tuition account by the mid-October service charge date. To keep it, register full-time (at least 1.5 credits by the end of each term in the fall and winter sessions if you start in September). If you withdraw or substantially reduce your course load without prior approval, you may have to repay all or part of it.

Who qualifies

You must be a domestic student, which means you are a Canadian student, a permanent resident, or a protected person (someone with refugee or protected-person status in Canada). You must have an admission average of 95% and higher. Note that these entrance scholarships are generally not combined with other U of T (University of Toronto) scholarships, such as the President's Scholars of Excellence Program or the U of T Scholars Award.
