You can receive between $500 and $1,000 with this award. This is a scholarship, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. This is for you if you are transferring to a York University degree program from an Ontario college or another Ontario university. No deadline is posted publicly for this specific award because no application is required. However, if you are applying for other awards at York University, you must use the MyFile portal by April 1, though some close as early as February 15. You will be notified by email or letter between May and June if you are selected. Recipients are selected on academic merit, and York assesses only your most recent post-secondary studies. Ask York University during your application how the money will reach you — some awards pay students directly, others apply funds to tuition. Confirm this so you can plan your cash flow. Renewal conditions aren't listed — if you're counting on this for multiple years, confirm with York University whether it's one-time or renewable and what you need to maintain.
You must be admitted to an undergraduate degree program at York and fit one of two routes. Ontario college route: you completed one year of full-time study (or equivalent) at an Ontario college of applied arts and technology within the past three years, with an overall grade point average of 3.30 or better on a 4-point scale (B+/75%) including all attempted courses; students in certificate programs, students going into a second degree, and applicants who are ineligible for transfer credit are excluded. Ontario university route: you completed the equivalent of one full year of study (4 full courses or 8 half courses) with an overall grade point average of 3.00 or better on a 4-point scale (B/70%); applicants who already hold a university degree are excluded. York assesses your most recent post-secondary studies only. You must have applied to a program at York University and have been issued a York reference number.
