About this award

If you are a domestic student (including U.S.A. applicants), you get $7,000: $5,500 in your first year, then $500 for each renewal. If you are an international student, you can get up to $32,000: $20,000 in your first year, then $4,000 for each renewal. This is a scholarship, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. This is for you if you are a high-achieving student from anywhere in the world who is starting their very first university experience this fall. No separate application is required, but you must reply to your offer of admission by the deadline set by the Registrar's Office (the university department that manages student records). Check your specific offer letter for your personal deadline date and the method for replying. Selection is based on your admission average grade. There is no application form: every eligible incoming student with a final average in this range gets the award. The money is applied directly to your tuition fees before classes begin in September, which reduces the balance you owe to the university. Note that you cannot use these funds for first instalments or down payments. To keep this scholarship, you must remain a full-time student and maintain a minimum 80 per cent average in each milestone of 5.0 full credits. If you are pursuing a pass degree (three years of study), you are eligible for a total of two renewals; if you are pursuing an honours degree (four years of study), you are eligible for a total of three renewals. You can only receive renewals during the first three or four years of your degree. If you are in the Concurrent Education program, you will not receive renewals during your teacher education years (years 5 and 6).

Who qualifies

You must be an incoming student from anywhere in the world entering your first undergraduate program in the Fall term with no previous post-secondary experience. This award level requires a final admission average of 95.0% and above. You must also maintain full-time status, which means taking 3.0 credits or more in the Fall and Winter terms.
