Some funders set money aside for women in science, technology, engineering and math. Most awards on this page are for women in a STEM or health program; a few are broader, so read the eligibility line on each one before you apply.
Who this page is for
You identify as a woman and you study, or plan to study, science, technology, engineering, math, or a related field such as health, environmental science or cybersecurity. You might be in high school, in an undergraduate engineering program, or in a master's program.
What is on this list
- Engineering awards. Hydro One's Women in Engineering Award, Toronto Metropolitan University's Audrey Bowes Memorial Award for Women in Civil Engineering, Memorial University's Women in Engineering Memorial Scholarship, and Polytechnique Montréal's White Rose Scholarships (Order of the White Rose) and Claudette-MacKay-Lassonde Excellence Scholarship.
- Provincial and national awards. Alberta's Women in STEM Scholarship gives 50 women $2,500 each. The 2026 intake runs from September 14 to October 30, 2026, and visa students are not eligible. FIRST Robotics Canada gives one $10,000 Canadian Women in STEM Scholarship a year to a young woman in a Canadian high school who has been on a FIRST Robotics Competition or FIRST Tech Challenge team. ESET Canada runs a Women in Cybersecurity Scholarship, and Quebec's Excellence in Science contest (Hats Off to You!) is on the list too.
- Awards for Indigenous women in STEM. Several awards here are for Indigenous women in science, health or environmental programs, including the Jazz Aviation & Northern Lights Bursary for Indigenous Women, the Jane Hood Award for Indigenous Women and the Women at Kinross Indigenous Bursary. The Indigenous students hub lists many more awards open to Indigenous students.
- Graduate awards. The University of Manitoba's Molly Weinberg Soudack Scholarship for Women in Science is for master's students in its Faculty of Science.
How to use this page
Check the field line first: some awards take any STEM program, others only engineering, only one school, or only one year of study. Then check your level and province. Several awards ask how you have supported women or inclusion in your field, through a team, a club or volunteer work, so keep one short draft you can adapt for each application.
